This unit introduces to students a sociological understanding of social justice related issues including gender equity, minority rights, democratic government, economic opportunity, environmental protection and human rights. It provides students a comparative view of social justice over a number of political and legal states and chronological periods. A variety of legal issues including those of consitutionalism, social control, and equity are examined to illustrate the disparate definitions of social justice. -- Course Website

Prerequisites: ATS1367 and ATS1898 or SCY1802, or ATS1283 and ATS1284 or equivalent and two second-level sociology or criminal justice units
