This unit focuses on city-regions on the Indian and Pacific Ocean Rims of Australia. This large region surrounding Australia encompasses nearly 2/3rds of the world's current population and is the main driving force for the economic and social dynamism of cities and national and global economies in the 21st Century. The unit will develop the ability of students to link theoretical and policy frameworks of regional economic development, industrial location, rural-urban linkages, urban governance and environmental management with planning initiatives and strategies to promote sustainable development of city-regions in the Indian-Pacific Ocean rims. -- Course Website
