The unit focuses on the communicative rules or strategies that orient Spanish and Hispanic American speakers to communicate effectively. Lectures explore the discursive similarities that link Spanish speakers and differences that result from varying social, political and historical factors.Theory is explored to understand: the organization of a text in relation to the socio-cultural context; particular discursive features of Hispanic speech.This unit consolidates students' critical research skills to equip them to undertake honours and postgraduate studies. -- Course Website
