Strategic studies is defined here as the analysis of the military dimension of international relations. Within this setting, the unit looks at the following topics: the role of US military power in world affairs, Australian defence policy, armed intervention, threats to the peace, the proliferation of 'weapons of mass destruction', arms control and concepts of security. Fifth-year level students demonstrate an awareness of how strategic issues can be related to broader conceptual concerns in the field of international relations. -- Course Website
