In this unit students consider the political economy, economic growth, social impact, status and authority, policy environments, geographical location, and organizational forms of cultural and creative industries. The unit looks at how creative industries and cultural institutions relate to creative energies and processes. The relationship between society, art, cultural bodies and the economy is analyzed. Examples are drawn from a wide variety of culture industries including theatre, film and visual arts, architecture, music, writing and publishing - and cultural institutions such as museums, galleries, cultural media and universities. -- Course Website
