This unit is the first foundation unit for the Auslan-English interpreting program. It will familiarise students with the broad context of interpreting theory. The unit covers techniques of interpreting from English into Auslan, and from Auslan into English, focusing on monologic discourse. The online component explores theoretical aspects of interpreting, referring to both spoken and signed language interpreting literature and strategies, via readings, case studies and reflection on students' own practice.
