It<br/>has a particular focuse on the rise of neoliberalism and the ascendency of the market. It does this from a number of perspectives drawing on both political economy and sociology. The unit will examine changes in the structure of the economy, such as the rise of global corporations and finance, as well as changes to working life and to the systems of social protection provided by the welfare state. Key themes will include the rise of precarious employment, inequality and the increasing importance of risk and uncertainty. -- Course Website
