This unit discusses bilingualism from a cognitive and social point of view. Topics include childhood bilingualism and its relationship to cognitive development, bilingual education, language attrition, bilingualism in the ageing population and in special circumstances (deafness and language disorders), language attitudes, and language contact. A major focus of the unit is on developing and elaborating a research project in the field. -- Course Website
