This unit gives students an overview and critical analysis of Chinese laws relevant to foreign trade and investment in China. The global impact of these laws will also be analysed, along with how the law impacts on Australia. Topics covered include: important aspects of Chinese commercial law (including contract law, labour law, intellectual property law, environmental law, taxation, company law); the Chinese governmental and legal systems; the influence of Chinese legal history; law-making mechanisms; the influence of Chinese culture on the conduct of business; and the progress of China in world markets as a member of the World Trade Organisation. -- Course Website
