This unit provides an introduction to the principles and practical aspects of chemistry. The unit does not assume prior knowledge of chemistry and can prepare students for entry to CBMS102 and CBMS103. Additionally it is intended as a one semester general purpose unit for non-science and science majors, including non-chemistry majors. The central focus of the unit is to make chemistry understandable and interesting and to teach some problem-solving skills that are useful in other studies and in the world beyond university, particularly in the workforce.
