This unit examines features of the legal system in contemporary Australia. Topics include: the relationship between law and society; the nature of law in a federal system; and the roles of parliaments and courts in making, developing and changing law. Students develop skills in reading and analysing case law, legislation and secondary legal source materials through assessment tasks which focus on topical areas of legal interest. -- Course Website
