Recent advances in DNA technology and statistical analyses have greatly improved our ability of using genetic information to address questions in ecology, conservation, evolution, behaviour and forensics. This unit deals with the study of the distribution of genetic diversity in individuals, populations and species. Emphasis is given to explaining how different fields of science can benefit from integrating genetic knowledge into their research agenda. Topics include the use of data and theory in genetics and genomics to:
- reconstruct the tree of life;
- manage wild and captive populations of endangered animals and plants;
- clarify aspects of species biology, behaviour and... -- Course Website
