This unit deals with the development of Ancient Egyptian society from the prehistoric period to the end of the New Kingdom as reflected in the archaeological record. It is divided into four themes through which the archaeological evidence is investigated: tombs, settlements, temples and objects of daily use. The unit also draws on the results of extensive excavation activities by staff of Macquarie University in Egypt. -- Course Website
