In this course we will develop a working knowledge of mathematics teaching in the high school curriculum focussing on the initial years. In doing so we will attempt to chart a course beyond the conventional transmission models for mathematics teaching. At the centre of our work will be the development of teaching techniques and practices that promote the active engagement of students in mathematics learning tasks.<br/><br/>Restriction: Students must have successfully completed the first and second year General Professional Knowledge courses, Curriculum and Pedagogy courses, 1252EDN and six (6) Teaching Area Content courses in each teaching area. -- Course Website
