This course focuses on a range of pathological conditions and the principles of pharmacology in their management. An understanding of disease processes is fundamental to the development of a knowledge base required to practise as a competent registered nurse. Knowledge of pharmacology is required to guide safe practice in the administration of therapeutic substances. The course explores the mechanisms involved in the breakdown of homeostasis along with interventions designed to achieve a return to homeostasis and includes a broad range of pathophysiological conditions throughout the body systems.
