This course describes the functions of cells and the tissues they form, and how the trillions of cells within the body communicate with one another. In addition, how cells and tissues are regulated to control variables such as body temperature, blood glucose levels and blood pressure in maintaining the body?s internal balance (homeostasis). More specifically, the following topics are covered: (1) cellular structure and function, as well as the features of different tissues types formed by the different cell types; (2) cell-to-cell communication within the nervous and endocrine systems; (3) homeostatic mechanisms that maintain internal balance within the body by controlling variables such... -- Course Website
