This unit introduces students to structural principles and examination construction methodologies applied to simple residential buildings through a systematic examination of their design and construction. Structural topics include: interdiction to permanent and temporary forces acting on structural elements and systems; principles governing selection of and structural systems; structural behaviour and adequacy of building components including scaffolding.
