The unit builds on the techniques of applied mathematics developed in level 2 mathematics units and prepares students for continued studies in applied mathematics and investigations of advanced modelling approaches. It addresses the theory and applications of complex number analysis. The topics covered include contour integration, Laurent series, Cauchy’s integral formula, classification of singularities, conformal mappings and residue theory. Applications of residue theory to the evaluation of real integrals are considered. -- Course Website
