Students progressively explore the issues that affect development of land and redevelopment of existing properties through an understanding of local and regional planning controls, procedures and legislative policy and precedent. The unit covers the principles of urban and regional planning with environmental and heritage protection strategies also discussed. Information about land title, registration, zoning and development application processes, including land suitable for subdivision and appeal mechanisms, underpins the unit and assists with the development of effective urban policy and community consultation responses.
