This unit will enable students to develop the ability to research and critically appraise controversial and topical issues in food and nutrition. Students will develop these skills through critical evaluation of a range of food and nutrition research papers. Topics covered include: study design and research methodologies used in food and nutrition research; statistical interpretation of data; critical evaluation of food and nutrition research studies; latest research and current thinking on topical food and nutrition issues in the media evaluated against a body of research; and distilling nutrition research findings into a format understandable by the lay public. -- Course Website
