This unit is designed to introduce students to the study of families, society and health by using an ecological perspective to consider a number of elements of family life. Concepts of 'family' are examined and trends, changes and patterns in family composition and behaviour are reviewed. Examples of elements of family life to be considered include: family diversity, families and work; divorce and repartnering; disability. The role of the family as a setting for public health will be explored within each of the elements of study. -- Course Website
