This unit is designed to explore the applications and implications of the physical principles underlying efficient human movement. The unit examines aspects of muscle mechanics relevant to sports performance and injury prevention, and investigates methods of quantifying human motion. Data from kinematic, electromyographic and kinetic sources will be analysed and interpreted. Exemplary material is drawn from studies of human locomotion and of the activity of isolated single-joint movements to determine the effects of injury and the progress of rehabilitation. -- Course Website
