This unit provides an overview of the health benefits of physical activity and the health consequences of physical inactivity. From a biological perspective, this unit will examine the impact of exercise or physical activity on various physiological systems including the endocrine, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. This unit will examine disorders and diseases associated with these physiological systems including cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome including obesity, diabetes, musculoskeletal disorders including sarcopenia and osteoporosis, respiratory disease and neurological disorders.
