This unit provides an examination of the theories that underpin developmental psychology and the research methods used in this area. The physical, social, cognitive and personal aspects of adult development and ageing are considered, taking into account both the gains and losses associated with ageing. Although the focus is on normal ageing within changing social and historical contexts, the cognitive, behavioural and social consequences of age-related pathologies are also examined and the promotion of optimal ageing is explored.Assessment -- Course Website
