This exciting unit considers the implications of new technology for primary and secondary English teaching. The course involves an exploration of new information and communication technologies such as computer games, social software, web 2.0 etc. We consider how these technologies are changing the nature of language development and usage as well as an investigating how teachers might draw upon their students’ knowledge, usage and engagement with these technologies in their classroom practices. While the unit is directed most closely to teachers of secondary English and primary literacy, it is also of relevance to teachers of other secondary disciplines. -- Course Website
