This is the third in a four-unit sequence within the BEd (Primary) degree designed to prepare primary school teachers of literacy and English in the information age. This unit examines the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing/creating print, digital and multimodal texts in the middle years of primary schooling (Years 3 to 6). Through fieldwork in middle years learners’ language and literacy learning environments, and engagement with theoretical frameworks, students research the needs of diverse literacy learners and contemporary literacy and English teaching practices in the middle years of schooling.
