This is the second in a four-unit sequence within the BEd (Primary) degree designed to prepare primary school teachers of literacy and English in the information age. This unit examines the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing/creating print, digital and multimodal texts in the early years of schooling (Prep-2). Through fieldwork in young learners’ homes and schools, and engagement with theoretical frameworks, students research the needs of diverse young literacy learners and contemporary literacy and English teaching practices in the early years of schooling.
