The unit consists of two modules, one based on language development and the other on literacy development. Students learn to monitor children’s language and literacy development and plan experiences that facilitate that development. Students learn about aspects of language development including phonological, lexical, grammatical and conversational development, the role of adult child interaction in children’s language learning, and appropriate activities for language development in early childhood settings. Students learn about aspects of early literacy including: the importance of home literacy practices, access to quality children’s literature and digital texts, storytelling, concepts... -- Course Website
