 This unit is designed to equip students with the practical skills needed to conceptualise, plan and carry out qualitative research. Qualitative methods covered include participant observation, unstructured interviewing (focus groups, in-depth), digital/online research, mixed method approaches. The benefits and limitations of various methods will be assessed. Students will be trained in devising qualitative research tools and frameworks, with consideration given to the ethical, cultural and gendered dimensions of qualitative data collection. Teaching will be conducted in an online setting, with the option of participating in face-to-face workshops. -- Course Website
