This unit concerns theories of knowing and knowledge. Since the Enlightenment of the eighteenth century, natural science has come to be widely recognized as the preeminent form knowledge. Considering the views of feminists and a number of theorists of science, the unit illustrates the range of disagreement over interpreting the nature of scientific knowledge and the methods by which scientists achieve their knowledge. -- Course Website
