The unit provides an overview of the editor's role at each stage of the publishing process, from developmental editing to proofreading and indexing. Students are introduced to the study of the concepts of editing as well as the craft, both on paper and using computers. The unit has a strong focus on copyediting skills, but students are also encouraged to extend their understanding of style, genre and audience.
