The unit will explore the great diversity of the many ethnic groups and their culture, language and traditions that make up the nation and people of Indonesia. Culture is not limited to traditional cultures of Indonesia that is often associated with the wayang or shadow puppet performance, traditional dances, gamelan ensemble, etc. An emphasis will also be given to contemporary, modern culture of Indonesia that includes movies and television, youth culture, etc. as well as the nature and impact of technology such as mobile phone and social media on the contemporary Indonesian society.
