Through an analysis of language, visual representation, subtexts and contexts, this unit will explore the power and influence of the relationship between texts and images. Students will analyse the construction and decoding of images that have helped shape the twentieth century, with an emphasis on images of globalisation, celebrity and of otherness. As well as researching the history of photography and analysing contemporary theories on visual communications, students will also have the opportunity to construct their own essay engaging images and words.Assessment -- Course Website
