This introductory unit surveys the history of analogue and digital animation. The aim is to critically assess through practice and theory the suitability of these techniques and strategies for contemporary use such as advertising, film titles, trailers, short films and web sites. This unit develop skills for critically assessing current multi-platform animation practices. Production tasks develop skills in the creative use of digital video cameras for animation through time-lapse, stop-motion and the retrieval and compilation of online images. Students are encouraged to visit local digital art events and animation screenings as part of this process. -- Course Website
