This unit examines workplace relationships between employers, employees and independent contractors. Both the common law obligations of employers and employees to one another, and the overlay provided by legislative conditions of employment are discussed. Specific areas covered include employee discipline, termination of employment, disputes and industrial action, occupational health and safety, workers compensation, discrimination and equal opportunity legislation. The unit also looks at management of employment disputes, the relevant industrial tribunals, and the advocacy skills they require. -- Course Website
