This unit will examine the main political and economic features of Borneo, especially in relation to the centre-periphery relations that have continuously shaped its inherent nations and states, and their respective governance. The historiography of Borneo will also be addressed to establish how the re-writing of Borneo history at various points in time has influenced these complex centre-periphery relations.
