The most common aquatic and terrestrial contaminants are studied: classification of contaminants, effects of contaminants on biota, physiological effects at the organism level and effects at the population levels and community levels. Laboratory toxicology and endpoints measured: effective concentration (EC50), no observed effect concentration (NOEC) LC50 etc. Field toxicology, biomarkers, bioindicators and urban toxicology. The knowledge is integrated by presenting case studies where theory is applied to real-life scenarios. The practical portion of the unit is composed of a mixture of tutorials and laboratories. Students design environmental monitoring plans and learn basic laboratory... -- Course Website
