The fundamental designer's knowledge, purpose and required skills of computer modelling and materiality are studied in this unit. Parametric Solid modelling software CAD is used to create form, scale drawings, and images. The required application of technical communication to Australian and international standards is established. The design potential of wood, metal, plastic, mineral and fibre materials are studied through examination of iconic designs, tactile experience, observation, research and creative experimentation. -- Course Website
