This unit introduces and analyzes the international relations of the Asia-Pacific region. It examines the determinants of conflict and cooperation in the Cold War and post-Cold War periods amongst three of the world’s largest economies - the United States, China and Japan-as well as the intense competition and conflict between the superpowers -the United States and the Soviet Union.
